The Friends of the Accokeek Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of community friends and neighbors who were brought together by an appreciation for books and a mutual love of reading. Their dedication was instrumental in getting the library built; and since its opening, the Friends have continued to offer their support in many ways. This past year alone, the Friends have given their time and energy to such items and projects as
- Book display table
- Flower beds at the back of the library
- Children's program on farm life
- Chess and Checkers sets and prizes for programs
- Hangers for children's art (to be installed)
- Plaques for the library's international doll collection
In addition, the Friends send out newsletters on library events, sponsor guest speakers, help with library surveys, maintain the book cart, and publish this web site. Participation in events is not necessary to be a Friend, however, so if time is an issue, consider supporting the Accokeek Library simply through an annual membership.
Please support the Accokeek Branch Library by joining us. Membership is open to all, and the annual membership fee is five dollars. Forms and envelopes are available at the circulation desk or a check for the fee can be made out to the Friends of the Accokeek Library and sent to P.O. Box 655, Accokeek, MD 20607.
